The latest offering from the Arctic Monkeys, AM, has been on repeat over here since it was released. From cover to cover it's a choice listen. Some tracks remind me of The Black Keys, others, Velvet Underground, others have some Muscle Shoals soul, others have a Californian vibe. It's great and you should buy it.
HAIM are a band of sisters (plus a drummer that is not related) hailing from Los Angeles. These gals no how to rock and they churn out an interesting mix of folk and R&B. I've been listening to them and Guards back to back, their sounds are very complimentary.
The sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana are all gorgeous. Like, serious friggin' babes. But that is but a side note to the music they craft. Danielle actually lends a guitar to Julian Casablancas' band and she also does her own, acoustic folk type deal. These gals ought ot be on your radar, they're doing some cool stuff.

This is an absolutely stunning set from the late Jeff Buckley. The day he drowned was definitely a massive loss for the music world. His only album, Grace, is fantastic and it would have been a pleasure to watch his career evolve.
For the time being, enjoy this set - just incredible, even for those unfamiliar.
