Always a fantastic night in Chicago when The Black Keys are in town. They really played pretty much all of their songs at a greater tempo than usual, still fantastic, enjoy.

LISTEN + DOWNLOAD - Model Stranger "The Last Time"

One of my nearest and dearest to the heart Chicago groups, Model Stranger, have released an incredible new track today called "The Last Time." If you're into a psychedelic/electronic rock then check it out. The track reminds me of a cross between the Pink Floyd tracks "Welcome to the Machine" off of Wish You Were Here and "Pigs (Three Different Ones) off of Animals. It's dark, dramatic and sounds like lasers are invading your brain.

The boys of Model Stranger also have a good number of dates on the calendar, check them out, they'll leave you in awe.

DOWNLOAD - Radiohead - 2012-06-10 - First Midwest Bank Amphitheater - Tinley Park, IL

The deep South Chicago suburbs experienced some excitement last Sunday evening when Radiohead rolled into town to play the biggest outdoor venue in the area, First Midwest Bank Amphitheater. I was lucky to be in the pit, about 20 feet back from the stage, dead center. Before I talk anymore about the show I've got to thank the incredibly generous, we'll call him AC, for giving me a ticket

This was a WXRT event at Reggie's Rock Club that I was embarrassingly not at. I've been supporting these guys for a while now, if you haven't picked up on them they come HIGHLY recommended.

NEWS - 2012 Lollapalooza Lineup Revealed...Sigh

Lollapalooza has revealed their 2012 lineup this morning. Let me say a few of things - 1) I love/hate living in a town with an annual summer festival. Why? SO many of the acts I'd like to see that summer hop onto the festival ticket and then that's the only place to see them that tour. Guess what? I want to see Jack White in a theater of 1,500 people, not outside with 100,000 people. Keep in mind I really only feel this way about Lollapalooza, since it's held in my hometown. 2) This years lineup is pretty solid despite me not really caring for Lolla. 3) It's outrageously expensive. The $200 3-day pass is sold out, it's now at $230 for a 3-day pass BEFORE taxes. I'm not sure how they've devised to rape us on ticket fees but I'm sure it's not pretty. Not to mention they have increased the number of tickets sold pretty much every year, they've increased the base price of tickets pretty much every year and everything inside the fest is a bit more expensive than comparable festivals.

So yeah, those are my thoughts on Lollapalooza. I want to go and check out all the great bands I won't get to see otherwise but a part of me doesn't want to go just as an act of defiance.  I've bolded the bands I'd really like to see this year, check it out below.

NEWS - "One Big Holiday" My Morning Jacket Documentary Screening In Chicago 4/14

One Big Holiday Documentary

Exciting news Chicagoans! The killer My Morning Jacket documentary (that came with deluxe versions of Circuital) One Big Holiday will be screening at CIMM Fest this April! Director Michael Feld and Executive Producer (and original My Morning Jacket drummer) Christopher Guetig put together an amazing documentary that  “provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at the symbiotic love affair that exists between one of America’s hottest bands, My Morning Jacket, and their hometown of Louisville, Kentucky."

The doc is filled with a ton of amazing behind the scenes footage, my favorite part are the rehearsals between My Morning Jacket and the Louisville Youth Orchestra. If you don't want to move to Louisville after watching you were not paying attention!

And if that weren't enough, the film will be screening with two other documentaries - Approximately Nels Cline, which "...traces the avant-jazz icon’s unusual path from improvisational trailblazer to Wilco guitarist." and Revenge of the Mekons, "...about the pioneering and genre-bending rock band."

Check out the details and a preview below!
