Since the beginning of the year I've been searching around for a great Wilco set to share and I've finally found it in this 2004 set recorded in Italy. I love this time for Wilco, post Jay Bennett and pre Nels Cline, Jeff Tweedy was handling the bulk of the lead guitar work and the spotlight was predominately on him. Wilco wasn't this incredibly refined machine then, there were rough edges and Tweedy may hit a wrong note here and there but dammit, the energy/vibe/feel was there. Not to take anything away from any version of Wilco (they've gone through some members), I love them all, but Tweedy's lead guitar work has always resonated with me. It reminds me of a version of Neil Young (something I'm sure he's strived for) and that ragtag filthiness will always be the sound I hear when someone says "Wilco."
